Bought EBAY Wedding Gown, Copy Of LA SPOSA LAMBEL

by Amy
(AUSTRALIA)

Ive always wondered, what type of wedding dress do you REALLY get for $250? About 3 months ago I went onto ebay and chose a dress, it was LA SPOSA's LAMBEL from their 2009 collection. But a COPY ONLY.

It cost me $250 from an ebay seller called Mary-anne bridal. I requested that the back of the dress be changed from button up to lace and sent off an example picture as well as some other photos I found of the designer dress itself. They said this would help them, and the lady who wrote to me on eBay could actually speak English!

Anywho, it took me a while to get around to taking my own measurements. There was an instruction page showing how to take the measurements. I also took a photo of myself, front & side, so they could see my shape.

The dress took about 6 weeks to make and arrived this week. I am blown away. I swear I would've paid $3k for this in a shop. It has layers and layers of lining, the inside of the garment is perfectly sewn with the panel behind the lace back and some little built in clip things (to hold you in apparently)etc.

The bodice is an EXACT replica of the LAMBEL with beautiful beading and the colour was perfect and the fit was perfect with boning throughout. It has a long flowing train. I couldn't think how you could purchase the material for this for under $250! the postage alone on the package cost them $50 (which was included in the total price).

I am stunned and I am a fussy person. I did read the feedback for Mary Anne bridal first and got a good vibe.

I have attached some of the photos I sent the ebay seller to help them make the dress....

Good luck ladies!

Hi Amy,

Thank you sending in this review. Most of the reviews that are sent in do not turn out so well.

I am glad that you had a good experience with ordering a wedding dress from a China based manufacturer. And I am also glad that you sent in pictures to show us your dress!

Your review will help brides that are considering using the source you used.

Plus it is good to know which China based manufacturers really deliver a gown of good quality!

I want to encourage more brides to send in reviews about their experience ordering wedding gowns offshore.

If you ordered a bridal gown from a China wholesaler on eBay from a store on the web, and you were pleased with the results, then let us know your experience and send in pictures if you can.

Just Received My Ebay Custom Made Dress From China

by Chi
(IL)

I ordered a dress from a seller on Ebay based in Shanghai. The dress only cost $165 and had free shipping and a good return policy. The seller's communication was good and shipping very quick.

The problems though--quality of material and design. The fit was perfect, but the design--hmmmm... off by a mile. What the seller did was try to make the dress look like the one in the picture by applying appliques in areas that were supposed to be lace designs. If you want an idea of the dress, look up Pronovias Halter. The real dress is gorgeous. The replica, not so much. The dress I received was stuffed in a tiny bag that may have weighed about 6lbs(first sign that something went wrong).

When tried on, it looked nice from about 30 ft away; but when looking at the dress any closer, you could easily see that the dress that was covered in poorly cut appliques that may have been chomped off other dresses and strategically sewn in places that were supposed to be designs. My mother couldn't stop laughing. My dad, who could careless, thought it looked great.

So, I suppose, it's all in the eyes of the beholder??? Whatever the case, I plan to return the dress and get a full refund--though, minus the shipping I will have to spend to ship it back.

I just received my wedding dress from China and it is absolutely stunning! It was made to fit me like a glove and the seller was more than accommodating. They waited 2 months to get my measurements as I was in a training program to lose weight!

I will use this designer again! My dress cost me 100.00 CAN

Custom Made Dress From China

Chi,

Thanks for your comments! I think your comment will help other brides. I hope you don't have a problem getting a refund.

And you are right about it depending on the eye of the beholder, when it comes to wedding gown quality. It seems that each person has a different level of quality they are willing to accept. But I can say this, if you are a person who tends to pick high quality clothing or you tend to have "expensive" taste... then do not order a gown from a source like this if you don't want to be disappointed, especially if you have seen the designer gown in person.

The quality of a China direct gown will never equal that of the designer gown, so far as I have seen. Designers use high quality luxurious fabrics and very carefully designed and well engineered construction methods, to provide a gown they would be proud to place their name on. Even though their gowns may be manufactured in China, the wedding dress designer dictates what they want and oversee the whole process from start to finish.

But for some brides the look or style of a designer gown is all that they are after. And for those brides, they may find that buying a gown this way will be a great way to get a particular "designer's look or style" at a much lower cost. I have seen some of these replica gowns capture the style of some designers gowns, pretty closely when it comes to the design.

To save money on a designer gown, try getting one from a consignment shop which sells preowned wedding dresses. You can find these shops online or in your local community. And you can get a desinger's bridal gown at an online wedding shop that specialize in discount wedding dresses. This way you are actually getting "the" designers gown. Hopefully you will have a better experience with your next wedding dress purchase!

Bought A Wedding Dress from Ebay...
Never Again! - Directly From China

by Rachella
(Australia)

Got it made from ourdream888 after reading all the postiive feedback (why it's positive I'll explain shortly). The dress was hideous! Nothing like the photo (I realise they pinch illegally photos from designer's websites but it should look at least a BIT like the pic surely?).
Fabric was crap. Colour wrong. Measurements not correct. It looked SO cheap and tacky.

All in all, I couldn't even GIVE it away. I'm going to keep it for a "bad taste" party.

Now the reason why they all have great feedback is this:
Their item costs say $30. Their postage is say $170.
So when you get your dress and tell them how hideous it is and that it's not acceptable (in a nice way, not like I'm talking now!) they offer you a refund...of the ITEM price (NOT the shipping, naturally). And only IF YOU GIVE THEM POSITIVE FEEDBACK! So they BRIBE you to give thme positive feedback, hence why they all have such great feedback.

Personally it's not worth my $30 back to lie and mislead other people. And ebay doesn't care at all. The standard response is what you get from them and nothing else.

Grr! Ended up buying it online from a shop in America - perfect.

Eye Opening Information About China Ebay Wedding Dresses!
by: Desiree

Wow! Thank you for your submission. This will help other brides thinking of ordering from the company you ordered from. The tip about the "positive reviews" posted on that site was eye opening!

In my research I have found that some of the reviews written, on some sites, are statements generated by the vendors themselves. But to know that this Ebay vendor selling wedding dresses from China, ask for positive reviews, in order for the customer to receive a refund... is not ethical!

Based on this review all brides ordering gowns from sources like this ,need to find out as much as possible about the refund policy before ordering! If the policy is vague or questionable... do not order from that site!

Thanks again for the information.

Buying a wedding dress from China
through Ebay

by Mandy
(Ireland)

After reading your helpful comments on here, I decided to ask the seller I've been thinking about buying from for a couple of fabric swatches so I could be sure the color was as I'd hoped.

I asked for 3 different red samples, and a sample of the ivory and white satin the dress would be made from. They were willing enough to send me the swatches but wanted over 32 dollars for postage. Seemed a bit drastic to me for 5 tiny samples and I told the seller so. They replied to say that they'd re-listed the dress (during our communications the dress I was interested in had been bought, but I'd had my eye on the dress for the better part of a year and I knew they made them again and again) and to feel free to buy. I told them thank you, but I don't think I'll buy the dress because the postage for the samples is too expensive and without samples I couldn't know the colors were right for me.

Seems to me that it should not be so expensive to post some tiny scraps of satin. I bought a dress for my daughter from China before on Ebay and the postage was only around 8 euro.

Buying your Perfect Dress from China - DHGate Review
by: Anonymous

Do yourself a favor and find a bridal store here in the states! It all sounds good, and the pictures they show you will make you fall in love with the dress as you imagine yourself "wearing that dress on the beach"...
I got my dress, it was the wrong color, I fought with the "seller" concerning whether I was correct or them. My dress was to be all white, it had these horrible rust colored flowers on the bodice. I supplied pictures, information, etc, and finally the company, DHGate, agreed on a full refund, WITH ME PAYING THE COST OF THE RETURN. It would cost me over $120 to mail the dress back, and then there is NO GUARANTEE that the dress is actually received, even with a tracking number, which means the dress can be held in customs, OR YOU PAY TO HAVE IT SHIPPED BACK TO YOU!
THIS WAS A MAJOR MISTAKE ON MY PART TO ORDER A DRESS INTERNATIONALLY. I AM OUT THE COST OF THE DRESS, DIDN'T GET THE RIGHT DRESS, AND I CAN NOT AFFORD TO SEND THE DRESS BACK BECAUSE IT COST MORE TO SEND IT BACK THAN I PAID FOR IT.
SAVE YOUR MONEY...DON'T BUY FROM DHGATE, OR ANY OTHER INTERNATIONAL PLACE...YOU WILL BE MISERABLE!

Prices
by: Anonymous

I believe one of the reasons (just an opinion) they charge so much for shipping is because Ebay gets a percentage of the money they make off the item but not from shipping. They have very low prices on the item (so they pay less) and very high shipping charges because they keep this.

And of course, they will not refund that if you return the item.

Buying A Wedding Dress From China Through Ebay
by: Desiree

Thanks Mandy for your contribution. I have been hearing from brides that the shipping and handling they pay for their gowns have been around $80 or more, which is quite a bit in my opinion!

But that is a lot of money for a company to charge to ship 1" to 2" square samples! I don't know how they were going to ship it, but when I receive samples from fabric companies they ship in a regular letter size envelope. An envelope is really all that is needed to ship them. I can't imagine a letter from China costing $32 for postage.

I know one thing I am with you in your move not to do business with that company. With fees that high for samples, who knows what your gown would have cost to ship!

The company you were going to order from may make a good quality garment but if their customer service is not up to par, or have outrageous fees... they could find more people, like yourself, not doing business with them.

Watch Out For EBay Vendors
by: Anonymous

Oh yes, you have to watch out for eBay vendors. There are a couple that really gouge the prices to ship their wedding dresses, which is why I really hesitated buying a dress from any that listed China as the location.

Some of them are even starting the gown auctions as low as $0.99 US then gouging over $100.00 US for shipping! Ridiculous.

Seriously, go to LightInTheBox.com to buy your gowns. :-)
